Now that the Olympic drama is settled and the trainwreck of an election is behind us, it’s time to get back to what really matters: 3D. I promised I’d return—and against all odds, here I am. I’m sure my ten loyal followers are beside themselves with excitement.

For too long, I’ve ignored the rise of AI, convinced that burying my head in the sand was a perfectly valid move for an aging illustrator. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t.

I don’t usually get excited about “new tech,” but this has genuinely blown my mind. For years, my scenes have been populated by 3D zombies—technically functional, but lifeless and slightly unsettling. That chapter is officially closed.

On a recent project, I began layering AI generation over my 3D characters. The results? Occasionally horrifying, but often jaw-dropping. When it works, it really works. Gone are the dead-eyed stares of soul-less figures. In their place: something vivid, expressive—and dare I say—alive.
